Once you've learned how to find hospital inpatient care with Amino, you might wonder which search options are best for you.
Here's an overview of how inpatient care search works on Amino.
Amino shows you Smart Matches first
Smart Match helps you easily identify safe, in-network, cost-effective hospitals with doctors who are highly experienced performing the service you need.
Hospitals with the Smart Match label satisfy all of the following criteria:
- Are in-network for your plan
- Are cost-effective hospitals ($ – $$ rating)
- Are high-quality hospitals (A-B Amino Facility Quality Score)
- Have one or more doctors who are highly experienced performing the service you need (Top 5%, Top 15%, or Top 25% nationwide)
You can also sort by Experience Match
Using the sort menu on your search results, you can switch to sorting your results by best Experience Match. When you sort by Experience Match, the hospitals with the doctors most experienced performing your procedure appear first.
Here's how we determine which facilities and doctors to display.
By analyzing our database about billions of doctor-patient interactions, we identify the billing codes for the procedure you searched. We then identify every doctor who performed your procedure to determine which doctor specialties are most likely to perform that procedure.
For the group of doctors with the appropriate specialties, we count the number of unique patients each doctor saw from 2014-2017 for the procedure you searched. This allows us to compute a percentile experience rank for each doctor that shows how their experience performing your procedure compares to their peers. We give a doctor a badge (Top 5%, Top 15%, or Top 25%) if we have enough data to determine that they are among the top-ranked doctors for your procedure, meaning they see a lot of patients for this reason compared to other doctors.
To help you find hospitals with the most experienced doctors for the procedure you need, we first identify all the hospitals near you with one or more affiliated doctors who perform your procedure.
When you choose the Experience Match sort, we rank the hospitals in your search results based on the most experienced doctor at each hospital. The hospital with the most experienced doctor for your procedure appears first in your list.
If there are multiple doctors who perform your procedure at a hospital, the doctors are listed on the hospital profile page in order of experience, most experienced doctor first.
You can also sort by distance
When convenience is essential, you may just need to know which hospital is closest. To sort your results by distance, select Distance from the sort menu and add your address using the edit icon. The hospitals closest to your address will appear first.
