Once you've learned how to find specialists with Amino, you might wonder which search options are best for you.
Here's an overview of how specialist search works on Amino.
Amino shows you Smart Matches first
Smart Match helps you easily identify in-network, highly experienced, cost-effective doctors for your needs.
Doctors with the Smart Match label satisfy all of the following criteria:
- Are in-network for your plan
- Are high-quality physicians (A-B Amino Physician Quality Score)
- Provide cost-effective care ($ – $$ rating)
You can also sort by Experience Match
Using the sort menu on your search results, you can switch to sorting your results by best Experience Match. When you sort by Experience Match, the doctors with the most experience performing common specialty services appear first.
Here's how we measure each doctor's experience.
By analyzing our database of over 9 billion doctor-patient interactions, we identify the billing codes for medical services that are commonly performed by the specialty you searched and representative of a typical specialty practice. We consider these billing codes to represent "common specialty services" for the specialty you searched.
We then count the number of unique patients who received common specialty services from each specialist in 2014–2017. This allows us to compute a percentile experience rank for each specialist for common specialty services.
Specialists who have seen more patients for common specialty services than at least 75% of other doctors of the same specialty nationwide are identified with an experience badge (Top 5%, Top 15%, or Top 25%) on their doctor profile.
You can also sort by distance
When convenience is essential, you may just need to know which doctor is closest. To sort your results by distance, select Distance from the sort menu and add your address using the edit icon. The doctors closest to your address will appear first.
